The aim of SInnDesign is to develop training materials and tools for design
for sustainability (DfS) of furniture, textiles for the habitat and building
materials, leading to innovative and competitive solutions.

In 2007, the distribution channels of manufactured construction products consisted of approximately 190,000 wholesale enterprises in the EU27 employing almost 1.5 million persons and generating a € 462billion turnover.
In 2011 the European textile and clothing industry realized a total turnover of € 179 billion and employed 1.8 million people in more than 190.000 companies; specifically, in the textile sub sector there are approximately 62.000 companies with a turnover of € 80 billion, and around 130. 000 companies in the clothing sub sector.
The number of enterprises in the European furniture sector has been reduced with 13% during the financial crisis and employs now around 1 million workers in 130.000 companies generating an annual turnover of around € 96 billion.
